Nancy received
her RN, BSN from Wayne State University in Detroit and completed
her MSN at the University of California
San Francisco. She has held a variety of staff and management
positions in proprietary and non-profit home care organizations
offering shift and intermittent care, and has been a
certified Legal Nurse Consultant since 2002. She was the Director
of Clinical Services at UCSD Home Care from 1992-2002. While
at UCSD Nancy developed and managed UCSD’s Ambulatory
Infusion Program. Nancy has held elective offices on the San
Diego Regional Home Care Council
and the California Association for Health Services at Home
(CAHSAH). She has served on numerous committees of both organizations
including CAHSAH's MediCal committee which is credited for
making positive changes for all California home care agencies.
Nancy has published a number of articles in professional journals
on subjects ranging from disaster preparedness in home care
agencies to the development and implementation of a home care
training course for hospital RNs. She has presented on a wide
range of topics at health care association meetings statewide
and before national forums. Nancy's passion regarding the provision
of excellent home care clinical services and her high regard
for home care clinicians is reflected in her consulting work.
Mary Lou received her BSN from Boston College
and MSN from Boston University. Mary Lou began her home health
career with the Boston VNA in 1974. Since that time she has held
staff and management positions in home health and hospital based
discharge planning/case management programs. Mary Lou was responsible
for securing UC Regents approval for UCSD HealthCare's acquisition
of a home care agency in 1991. She served as Administrator of
UCSD Home Care until its closure in June of 2002. Mary Lou has
held elective offices locally, statewide and nationally with
Continuing Care Associations and with CAHSAH. She is an active
member of San Diego's Regional Home Care Council, and in the
past she was co-chair of the Legislative Committee. Mary Lou
testified on behalf of the National Association for Home Care
(NAHC) before the House Commerce Committee regarding the impact
of the Interim Payment System on home care providers. She was
a member of the NAHC-sponsored Ground Zero project which re-designed
home care services in preparation for the Prospective Payment
System. Mary Lou has authored articles and produced videos on
topics ranging from hospital discharge planning to the redesign
of home care agencies. She has spoken on a variety of topics
at state and national association conferences. Mary Lou's commitment
to the viability of home health and promotion of comprehensive
care across the health care continuum are key attributes she
brings to consultation engagements.
Mary Lou has recently completed a book about her son called Missing Michael
